Development and Behavior

A mismatch between a student's developmental level and the curriculum, supports, strategies, and interventions used can have significant implications for learning, behavior, and communication, and can potentially lead to decreased engagement and demonstration of challenging behavior. As such, educators must take time to determine where their students fall within the stages of development, identify areas of weakness, and select appropriate curriculum, supports, strategies, and interventions.

Training may be available in this area by the California Diagnostic Centers.
